Factors which might influence the timescales of your case

Generally speaking, matters listed in the Magistrates Courts are concluded on the day of listing, however, occasionally matters may be adjourned either on application of the parties or at the direction of the court. There may be several different factors, which may influence the timescales under which Simon can provide his legal services notably:

  • The complexity of the case and the volume of material that will need to be reviewed;
  • The type and expected duration of the case and the anticipated level of engagement from other parties;
  • Whether and to what extent, litigation is required or the reliance upon instructing an Expert;
  • Simon’s availability and his other professional and diary commitments;
  • The stage at which Simon is first instructed in the proceedings.

Once Simon has had the opportunity of discussing your case with you, he will immediately advise and give you a general assessment of your case and provide you with an indication of the potential work required to progress the case. Where possible he will provide you with an estimate of his fees and the timescale over which you can expect to receive his legal services and the potential additional costs involved such as, instructing an Expert or entering into litigation with the other parties. Upon accepting your instructions, Simon will regularly keep you updated on the progress of your case.
